- Camellia Festival sign-ups for this Saturday (2/25) are full. Please remember to attend if you have signed up. See you guys there!

- Lauren reminded everyone of the officer meeting that was held after school! Speeches and voting will take place on March 21st and March 28th, so if you’re not running for a position, come out to support your friends!
- Conner and Sarah revealed the Hashtag Lunchbag social happening on March 11th!
- We’ll come together at AHS from 2:00-3:30 pm and make sandwiches, write notes, and pack lunches for homeless people. It’s going to be a really awesome event, so we hope you guys can come! There will be a limit of 50 people, so make sure to stay updated for when sign-ups are released!

- There are no new events for the month of February. If you’ve signed up for Ooey Gooey Weekend (Sun., Feb. 19), Camellia Festival (Sat., Feb. 25), or Robotics Championships (Sun., Feb. 26), please make sure you’re ready to go, or let an officer know if you can’t make it anymore.
- Grace reminded everyone about the MANDATORY prospective officer meeting.
- If you are interested in running for an officer position, you must attend the meeting afterschool on February 21 in J207. At the meeting, each officer will discuss what their position entails, and you can ask them specific questions about their role! If you can’t attend but would still like to run for an officer position, you must email [email protected] with a valid reason.

- Ocha and Armine from Hope Can Cure Cancer Club came to promote their event, Bark for Life! Check it out here if you want more information. It’s on Saturday, March 4th, at 10 am.
- Cecilia reminded everyone of the MANDATORY officer informational meeting on February 21st after school in room J207. If you cannot make it, you must email [email protected] with your reason for not being there, and you will still be allowed to run for a position.

- Sign-ups for the LW Cultural Potluck (2/3), Pet Fair (2/4), and Amigos de Los Rios Park Restoration (2/4) are full. Thank you those of you who signed up, we’re excited to see you there!

- There will be a MANDATORY Informational Meeting for members interested in running for an officer position on February 21st after school. Officers will be giving information about their position, so you can decide which position to run for.
- Remember, you must have attended 3 events and 1 social.

- Sign-ups for the Pet Adoption Fair (1/28) and Museums Free-for-All (1/29) are closed. Thank you to those of you who signed up!
- Longley Way Cultural Potluck: Fri., Feb. 3 at Longley Way Elementary School // 6-8 (sign-ups will open on Tuesday)
- Camellia Festival: Sat., Feb. 25 at Temple City’s Camellia Park // 9:30-12:00 (sign-ups will open on Tuesday)
- Daisy will be updating hours for the Ice Skating Social. If there are any discrepancies, please let her (or any officer) know!

- A total of 142 people came out, and we raised $821! Thank you to all who came, and we’re so excited to donate the money we raised to Water for Mali!
- Cecilia and Lauren discussed Officer Elections.
- To run for an officer position, you must have attended 3 volunteer events and 1 social.
- Attendance to club meetings as well as volunteer events is really important, so make sure you go to events and meetings consistently!
- Applications for officer positions will be released late February, so please be on the lookout for those if you’re interested in running.
- Lauren reminded everyone about RYLA! It’s a free weekend leadership camp from April 28-30, so if you’re a junior who will be 17 by April, please consider applying! The application will be released on Facebook and by email as soon as it is available.

- Sat., January 21 from 8-10 at the Pasadena Ice Skating Center
- Anyone can go! Tickets are $15 each and can be purchased from any officer. You must turn in a purchase form with your money before receiving your tickets.
- Interact members receive 2 hours just for attending the social, and ½ hour for each non-Interact friend you bring, up to a total of 5 hours (up to 6 friends will be counted)! To get the hours, just indicate on the purchase form how many friends you’re bringing. This is a really awesome way to get hours and support a great cause while having fun!
- If you use Facebook, change your profile picture to the Ice Skating Social poster (posted in the Facebook page) to get a ½ hour! A super easy way to earn hours, just by advertising for us! Make sure to tag an officer in your post so your effort is recorded.
- Ryan, Lauren, and Cecilia discussed RYLA.
- RYLA is a weekend leadership camp for JUNIORS in Lake Arrowhead from April 28-30. It’s FREE (paid for by Rotary) and you get to meet a ton of cool people and boost your leadership abilities! Check out the website here for more information, and feel free to talk to Ryan, Lauren, or Cecilia to hear about their experience. The application will be released soon!

- Anusha and Joyce discussed events.
- Unfortunately, both the Lights on TC and Griffith Park event sign-ups are closed, but new event sign-ups will be posted on Facebook soon, so keep your eyes out for them!
- Conner collected Santa cards! You’ll earn one hour for each card you completed, up to a maximum of 3 hours.
- Sarah talked about the Blaze fundraiser.
- We will be having a Blaze fundraiser on December 22, the last day of school before winter break! This fundraiser will also count as a social, so if you need to fulfill your social requirement to run for officer, this is the perfect one to go to! Just take a picture with your friends at Blaze (the Monrovia location) and send it to an officer. A flyer will more information will be posted soon!
- Ryan and Daisy discussed the Ice Skating Social.
- The ICE SKATING SOCIAL will be held on January 20 from 8-10 pm at the Pasadena Ice Skating Center! Tickets are $15 each. This is our biggest fundraiser of the year, and it also counts as a social, so don’t miss out!
- To buy tickets, fill out the ticket form (which will be emailed and posted on Facebook & the website soon), then give it to an officer with payment in order to receive your tickets.
- You receive 2 hours for going to the social, and ½ hour for each non-Interact friend you bring (up to 4 friends). This is a really easy way to have fun and earn volunteer hours, so invite some of your friends to come with you!
- Lauren went over the procedure for club photos.
- Next Tuesday, December 6, Interact will be taking its club photo for Yearbook! Please wear your Interact Club T-shirt and head to the black gates between A-building and the PAC by 12:20. Make sure to bring your ID card so your name will be listed with the picture! This is a really cool opportunity to show that you’re part of one of the biggest clubs on campus, so please come out that day and show your Interact spirit!

- Ryan announced that on December 6th, we will be taking club photos for yearbook! More details to come later, but make sure you can come on that day to be included in the picture.
- Daisy talked about where to find hours.
- On the Facebook page in the description box, there’s a link to the hours document where you can check your hours. You can also go to the website and click the “Membership Hours (2016-2017)” tab under “Membership”. IF there are any discrepancies or you have any questions, please talk to Daisy.
- Cecilia discussed Santa cards.
- Since we have limited time for lunchtime activities, we’re going to offer a take-home activity for you guys to earn hours! Similar to the Veteran’s Day cards, write a letter to Santa telling him what you’re thankful for and what you want for Christmas. We donate these cards to Macy’s, which donates $1 to the Make-a-Wish Foundation for each card it receives. We’ll post more information and an example card on the Facebook page, and these cards will be due November 29th (the first meeting after Thanksgiving break).

- Conner and Lauren introduced the international project: Water for Mali!
- Mali is a country in West Africa lacking access to clean drinking water. This limited access to water prohibits their societal progression and industrialization, as women and children must spend much of their time traveling to collect water.
- Our goal is to raise $2000 in the year to give Mali clean water, and help them progress as a people! We’ll be having various socials and fundraisers throughout the year to raise this money. It’s a big goal, but we can definitely achieve it!

- The Lajaja Bike Festival was really fun and successful! Thanks to the members who came out to our first event.
- We have three new events: the Walk to End Alzheimer’s, Art Night Pasadena, and Digital Nature. Check out the event calendar for more info!
- Since these events occur before shirt distribution on October 25th, make sure you give your membership money to an officer before the event and receive your shirt because it’s mandatory for volunteering.

- Ryan introduced Interact Club.
- We are sponsored by a non-profit organization called Rotary International.
- We have an 11-man officer team! Check out the Officers for more details about each one’s position.
- Our teacher advisor is Mr. Gund (room J-210) and our Rotary liaison is Mr. Rider.
- Conner talked about our affiliation with Rotary International.
- There are many Interact clubs across southern California, collectively known as Interact District 5300. The district is split into different groups, or “areas”, and Arcadia is in Area 4 with Duarte and Monrovia.
- Being sponsored by an international organization and having so many other clubs just like ours across the region means we have a SUBSTANTIAL impact on this world.
